Bucharest, Sibiu, Sighisoara, Brasov, Bran and Sinaia
Day 1 –
Flight from Dublin to Bucharest, departs at 0750 arrives in Bucharest 1340, where there will be a coach on arrival to take you to a city centre hotel. You will then enjoy dinner on the old town of Bucharest in a traditional Romanian Restaurant, Cram Domneasca. Overnight in Bucharest.
Day 2 –
Today you will enjoy a half day city tour, where you will visit the Palace of Parliament, guided tour which lasts an hour and half, the Christian Orthodox Church of the Patriarchy, the Unknown soldiers grave in the Carol Park. You will visit the Ceausescu Family residence also known as Spring Palace, getting a glimpse into the communist past history. Our tour will continue with lunch in a restaurant or garden terrace where you will get the chance to taste local delicates and drink the local beer or wine. Finally a short visit at the ethnographic outdoor Village museum, where we will see wooden house several hundred years old. Free time during the afternoon. Overnight in Bucharest.
Day 3 –
You will travel north, towards Sibiu, Transylvania. Driving time is about 2.5/3 hours, with breath-taking views of the Carpathian Mountains in the Lot Valley. On route we do several stops, including the 15th century Cozia monastery. We check into Hotel Golden Tulip in Sibiu. Free time during the afternoon followed by dinner in your hotel. Overnight Sibiu.
Day 4 –
After breakfast, you will enjoy a walking tour of Sibiu, afterwards you will depart for Sighisoara. After a 2 hour drive, you will arrive in one of Europe’s oldest and best preserved medieval fortresses with houses more that 700 years old still inhabited. After the walking tour of the citadel which includes a stop at the House where Vlad Tapes, ‘Dracula’ lived. You will have lunch there and continue your trip towards Brasov. You will check into your hotel in Brasov. You will enjoy dinner at the Sergiana Restaurant (the best in Brasov)
Day 5 –
Today you will enjoy a walking tour of Brasov, the Black Church, after which we drive towards Bran, to visit Draculas Castle. The Bran Village is perfect to buy local souvenirs from Romania at very good prices. Lunch in the Wolf Restaurant. Free time in the afternoon and dinner with folkloric dances and music at the Cerbul Carpatin restaurant in the city centre of Brasov. Also do not miss the pubs and bars of the old town. Overnight Brasov.
Day 6 –
Today, you will continue the trip south to Sinaia and visit Peles Royal Palace, built in a German Neo Renaissance style by the first king Carol the 1st. Afternoon lunch in Sinaia. You will then return to Bucharest and check into a 4 Star hotel in Bucharest city. You can enjoy some free time this evening.
Day 7 –
Today, you will have the morning at leisure to enjoy some independent sightseeing. We will then depart for the airport, for your flight home to Dublin. Depart Bucharest at 1440 arrive Dublin 1635.
