Svalbard is the Arctic North as you always dreamed it existed. This wondrous archipelago is a land of dramatic snow-drowned peaks and glaciers, of vast icefields and forbidding icebergs, an elemental place where the seemingly endless Arctic night and the perpetual sunlight of summer carry a deeper kind of magic. One of Europe‘s last great wildernesses, this is also the domain of more polar bears than people, a terrain rich in epic legends of polar exploration.
coming here is like crossing some remote frontier of the mind: Svalbard is as close as most mortals can get to the North Pole and still capture its spirit.
Northern lights safari – Snowcat tour – Spitsbergen
Join us on an exciting safari into the polar night. We will be picked up at our hotel, and before we set off the guide will inform us about the trip. We head towards Adventdalen and the darkness, before we start crossing the valley. At our destination we will stop and enjoy the views and look for the magical northern lights. The guide will serve hot drinks, and give information about our surroundings.
Icecave trip underneath the Glacier – Svalbard Wildlife Expeditions
Melting water channels are formed in the glaciers during the summer. In winter these channels freeze, creating spectacular ice caves we can visit. After about 1 1/2 hours walk with snow shoes we enter the ice cave and dress in helmet and head lamp. Now we will enter the freezed melting channles. We may have to crawl during some parts of the trip, so the trip is not suitable for those with back problems or claustrophobia.
Dogsledding in Bolterdalen! Surrounded by mountains, we will follow the riverbed in Bolterdalen and carry on in to the moraine hills, where going up and down will add some fun and excitement to the tour. In Bolterdalen we often see reindeer and grouse.
Back in the dogyard, we will have a cup of tea and meet the next generation of sleddogs puppies.
